About me
I’m Rebecca, an Accredited Senior Counselling Psychologist registered with the HCPC, based in County Durham. I have over 10 years’ experience working within the NHS and IAPT services, and I currently work as the Clinical Lead for Cancer and Palliative Care Psychology Services across two hospital sites.
I work with adults experiencing complex anxiety, depression, and trauma, offering a range of evidence-based therapies including EMDR, Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills — either in person or online. I also integrate other therapeutic approaches where appropriate to best meet individual needs.
Through my work, I’ve gained a deep understanding of how psychological difficulties can affect every aspect of a person’s life, often leaving people feeling stuck, powerless, or disconnected from themselves. My aim is to help you move forward with a greater understanding of your true self, and to support you in finding a renewed sense of hope and direction.
I offer a private, safe, and supportive space where you can explore your experiences and work towards positive change at your own pace.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting people in distress from all walks of life, each with their own story and unique experiences. It’s through this lens that I aim to walk alongside each person with empathy and compassion, creating a space where they can feel truly supported, heard, and never judged.
My Approach
Entering into therapy can sometimes feel scary or overwhelming — especially if this is your first time, or if you’ve had a difficult experience in the past. My aim is to create an environment where you feel safe, respected, and supported throughout the process.
Therapy with me is centered around your needs, and we will work together at a pace that feels right for you. During challenging times, it’s common to develop ways of coping that may no longer serve us, or that feel out of alignment with our true selves and values.
By working through these experiences together, we can begin to develop more compassionate, balanced ways of coping — helping you reconnect with your values, your sense of self, and a deeper feeling of connection and fulfillment in your life.
